Joy in Birds

Forgive my quick sketch of this delightful moment...This is a drawing I made for my daughter's notebook. My husband usually draws a moment from her day--it can be a moment she shared with him, one he observed, one he heard about, etc. She spent most of the day with me, and this was part of my sketch.

The birds came very close to us, while we sat outside with friends, on a hot day in Chicago. When not observing the birds, the girls were hand-standing, back-bending, hide-n-seeking, and laughing out loud.

The calendar may say it's Spring, but today it definitely felt like Summer with a capital "S"!
I think the birds would agree with me. : )

  1. It's a lovely sketch! And your words sketch the moment very well too - I can just imagine the scene.

We've been watching a family of birds in our back yard - 2 robins built a nest in the eaves above our back door - the babies hatched this week, and we've been watching mom and dad fly in worms and insects, stat! Spring/Summer is so, so joyful...
